How to Watch Television
Ethan Thomson & Jason Mittel
New York University Press
This is an almost impossible book to review. Why, because it is a book of opinions. Opinions are almost impossible to classify. They just are and there is no right or wrong answer. What this book does is teach you about television. Television mimic’s the times and the people. When you see what goes into some of these essay’s it will get you thinking about How much you think when your watching your favorite shows.
One of the biggest things this book taught me is the power of suggestion. If you look around you there is always something making suggestions based on what you’ve already bought, read, watched or played. It may look like the easy way but is it? How do their choices actually match up with why you picked the show you did or is someone or thing just guessing? Overall an enlightening read.
