Trickster’s Girl

Trickster’s Girl

Hilari Bell

Harcourt Children’s book Group

Young Adult

Science has long ago taken away anyone’s belief in magic. The Environment is suffering from some form of rapid spreading illness, at this point it’s only the trees but who knows what might come next. People are also getting sick with aggressive illness’s that baffles medical science.  It’s up to 15 year old Kelsa to save the planet according to Trickster a Native American sprit. Can she do it and hold her family together in the process?

This one didn’t click for me for some reason. Trickster and Kelsa are wonderful characters. In comparison the rest of the story wasn’t as well fleshed out. It is a young adult story.  By leaving the rest of Kelsa’s world flat and caught in their own lives though I think the author misses the chance to show what a truly amazing young lady Kelsa is which is sad because it would have added more depth to the story.
